Closing of the Bones Ceremony

$939.00

A full day Closing of the Bones ceremony adapted from “La Cerrada Completa” recipe from Mexican midwife Naoli Vinaver, via my mentor and doula educator Sasha Padron. As well as study in the Andes of Ecuador with Quichua midwives, and teachings from Isabel Perez, a Farm trained birth attendant from Guatemala. There are as many ways to do Closing of the Bones as there are women in the world…

“We talk about this so much, like as moms. Like omg we need to be taken care of and village and all that stuff. It’s different when you actually feel it. Like this is what I haven’t had in a long time.” - Sasha Lisgara

What is Closing of the Bones?

La Cerrada Completa means “Complete Closing” and provides a powerful way for your body to release stuck traumas, realign your organs if out of whack, and tend to the closing of the birth portal— among many other benefits both physical and spiritual/emotional.

It is well known that birth is an extremely expansive energy. The Closing of the Bones is a traditional postpartum technique using woven cloths— in Spanish, rebozos— to wrap and release the postpartum mother’s body to help her “come back down to earth,” and land fully into her new body after birthing.

It is also a way to honour mothers who may not have received the car they needed postpartum. As it is never too late to receive the tending and recognition we need.

Who is this for?

This ceremony is designed for new mothers, though any woman at any stage of life (excluding pregnancy) can receive this and experience powerful healing.

Maidens, mothers, grandmothers, barren women. All mothers and daughters.

This ceremony is highly applicable to women who may be carrying old hurts in their womb, from experiences other than birth, including intergenerational/ epigenetic imprints or sexual trauma.

Men can deeply benefit too— though this recipe is designed for postpartum women.

Modalities and lineage

Kayla has been closing women’s bones for over 8 years, after learning from multiple traditional birth workers in different mentorship settings.

She has spent apprenticing with Quichua midwives in the Andes mountains of Ecuador, and deep in study in the bell tent on her mentor Sasha Padron’s land in Northern Ontario.

Kayla’s touch training is based in Thai massage, shiatsu, reiki, yoga, and acupressure. She’s also trained extensively as a space holder & mentor for pregnancy, birth, loss, and postpartum, learning women’s anatomy and physiology through matrescence, and leads guided meditations geared toward embodiment. She has been working in women’s homes doing this work for the past 10 years.

What will I receive?

It’s honestly hard to describe the depths and beauty of what happens through this process.

Women say, “I feel like a new woman!” And I say, “that’s because, you are.”

You will feel lighter, more grounded, and connected with yourself.

Anxiety/ thoughts that have been plaguing you for years and making you feel stuck can release, and leave forever.

Emerge feeling more of who you are as a woman and how good that feels.

Integrate your mother self with the rest of you and give her the space and recognition she deserves.

Healing means restoration to wholeness, and it is possible, maybe especially for women and mothers in this time.

We know how.
